A very pretty and well mannered long keeled yacht launched in 1985, perfect for someone who appreciates a solid, seaworthy hull. She will look after you on any passage, in any weather but is just as happy as a starter boat to explore the Ionian/Mediterranean. Rustler yachts performed well in the 2018 Golden Globe Race.
She has less accommodation than most modern yachts but is great for a couple or for day sailing with guests. The tiller folds up to give more room in the cockpit for entertaining. All towels, bedding, crockery, cutlery etc. are included.
In June 2019 she received a makeover including replacing the Houdini hatches with new GEBO hatches, new grabrails and sprucing up of the internal and external paintwork.
From September 2019 she has been ashore in Preveza, Greece. Due to Coronavirus she has not been in the water since although I flew out for an inspection trip in 2020 and we may get her in the water this summer (subject to travel restrictions).

We are often asked about owning a boat in Greece so here is a personal view:
We normally fly into Preveza (Flights March to mid October). An all-year-around alternative is to fly to Athens then take the coach to Preveza. A further option, which we have not used but many do, is to drive to Italy then catch a ferry to Greece.
We’ve been in Aktio Marine in Preveza, for the last 10 years, at a cost of about 1,500 euros per annum inc. lift ins/out. Our view is that keeping Tramp ashore, rather than in a marina, means less worry.
A wonderful restaurant - Pannos, is 5 mins walk away; good value, friendly people and great food. We spend the first day or two getting the boat ready before launching, at the other end of our holiday we do the reverse and spend the last two days getting lifted out, cleaning and stowing sails and winterising the engine before leaving the boat. There are plenty of hotels in Preveza if you don’t want to stay on the boat whilst she is ashore. We have had to use local engineers, sailmakers etc. and they have all been very professional. Local chandlers abound and for more specialised parts we order online and get them delivered direct to the marina.
The prevailing wind, in the summers, is from the north-west. Most days start clear and calm then a good sailing breeze (gentler than the meltemi in the Aegean) builds from midday. Early and later in the season, temperatures are very comfortable, around the mid-20’s. In July and August the mid-30’s are normal so electric fans, a wind scoop for ventilation and a bimini to shade the cockpit are essential (included on Tramp)
Anchoring in a bay is always our preference, with many beautiful turquoise anchorages to discover. The advantage of having our own boat is that we go where we please and when we please. We have been known to ask ourselves the question, “shall we leave this beautiful bay to go to another beautiful bay”, the answer is often “no”.
Victualling – if there’s no mains water supply on the dock, there’s likely to be a water tanker and even the smallest ports have a supermarket of some description. The fridge box means we have cold drinks when we need them and can keep perishables. Diesel – we normally only need to fill up every other month.
In most ports we moor bow-to, there is a kedge anchor set up on a stern roller. Bow-to gives us more privacy in the cockpit and down below. We have long mooring lines on-board, as well as chains and rubber snubbers for where necessary.

A lowered sole for increased headroom. 2 berths with lee cloths and a quarter berth means all crew are safe even in a rough sea (and 4th occasional pipecot to port). The forepeak has been converted to a Heads, chain locker and workshop area. The old midship heads is now a large larder/storage with a wet locker opposite.
FM/AM Radio/CD Player with USB connector (2012) and an additional USB charger/voltmeter by the chart table. USB sockets are used to run fans in the hotter weather. All internal areas have red & white lighting; any tungsten/halogen bulbs (inc. navigation lights) were replaced by LED in 2012. The 35 litre fridge box (new 2019) runs happily all day and night from the solar panel without additional charging from the engine and keeps all our drinks and perishables fresh. Fruit, vegetables and eggs are kept in the dry bilge. New cushion covers to the saloon in 2017. Wind scoop to forward hatch (new 2019)
A long keel with a transom hung rudder and fully encapsulated ballast. Green gel coat, painted white to reduce heat build-up whilst based in the Mediterranean. She handles all seas well and will heave-to beautifully.
Strong rig with fore and aft lower shrouds. Stainless steel mast steps makes going up the mast a doddle. Radar reflector.
20kg Rocna/Bruce type bow anchor with 60 metres of 10mm chain and a manual windlass. This is large for a 31 foot boat but we have slept well many nights knowing that the anchor is well dug in.
Stern Delta anchor, 10 kilo with 12 metres of 8mm chain and 60 metres of 12mm rope. Spare 10k Bruce anchor. Plenty of warps, chain for attaching shore lines to rocks and rough harbour walls, rubber snubbers, shore lines and fenders included.
New canvas Bimini and liferaft cover 2011. Mariner 2.5hp outboard (2006) and Kapa 2.4m dinghy (2017) with oars, pump etc.

Engine runs well and starts easily. A separate logbook shows all work carried out on the engine including proper annual winterising. Engine was serviced in 2018 and the heat exchanger housing replaced and the stack acid-cleaned. Exhaust hose replaced between elbow and water lock in 2019.

Main fuel tank and a 20 litre reserve gives her a range of approx. 700NM.
