1981 Hartley Queenslander, launched in 2001 ‘Black Duck’ is a classic style liveaboard custom cruiser.
Professionally built from ferro cement in New Zealand, Black Duck is a robust and proven cruiser well equipped for handling the open ocean or coastal cruising. With a proven track record of navigating halfway around the world, having sailed from Australia to Greece, her seaworthiness instils confidence even in rough weather conditions.
With space not usually found on a boat of her size, Black Duck is great for living aboard. Not only is her timber interior beautiful and spacious, but her large lazarette area allows repairs and maintenance to be carried out in any port.
Having arrived in the Mediterranean in 2023, Black Duck is ready to sail and comes with a lot of spare parts and extras to keep her cruising for many more adventures.
Black Duck has only had 3 owners. Her current owner, due to work commitments, has chosen to sell her. Over the 2023/24 winter months she has been given a great deal of care and fitted with many new upgrades as follows:

The Hull Was Professionally Built In 1981. It Was Placed In A Shed From 1981-1998. This Is An Ideal Scenario For A Ferro-Cement Hull As It Allows The Hull To Fully Cure Before It Is Placed Into The Water. In 1998 Ian Penney Bought The Hull, Fitout The Boat, And Launched It In 2001.
