Boat sharing is an ideal way to get some serious sailing at a reasonable cost and is a great alternative to expensive charter holidays. We have 1/5 shares available in Fluke giving up to 6 weeks sailing a year May - October. Fluke has had a considerable amount spent on her over the last five years in upgrades. These include a change of engine in 2025/6, new deck windows 2022, resealed 2025/6. Standing rigging and mast inspected and serviced 2025/26, new batteries 2025, new anchor, chain and windlass 2023, new jammers and running rigging, auto bilge pump, New water system piping, pump and hot water system, new electrics and control panel, replacement mainsail 2025, chart plotter 2023 and depth gauge 2023.
We have recently moved the maintenance to a very good and reliable engineer based in Nidri who has carried out a rigorous inspection of the boat and keeps us informed of what needs to be done.
We operate a WhatsApp group which we use to keep other owners informed of handover arrangements and any niggles or tweaks while we are using Fluke. As the boat needed major work done this year including replacing the engine and work on the mast and rigging, two members of the group decided to sell their shares back to existing consortium members and so we will be welcoming new members to the group. Currently we choose our weeks via a calendar application and this has worked well to date. ally
Annual costs: £1200 per share per year, equivalent of £100 per calendar month which pretty much covers everything. As is normal with boats of this age we have occasional one-off extra payments, split 5 ways. However, we have replaced the engine, running rigging, deck windows, electrics and had the standing rigging serviced in the last few years so most of the big jobs are done.
