Muffin is sold completely ready to sail, her genoa is currently at the sail loft and will be given to the new owner with a brand new UV strip fitted.
I have owned her for 5 years, and in that time she has been continually upgraded and modified to make a fantastic little cruiser. In 2020 I sailed her around the country, including a 4 day nonstop leg up the Irish Sea. She has never given me reason to doubt her, and I would be confident to say that she is one of the most seaworthy, safe, and fast 22-foot boats out there.
There is a YouTube, Instagram and Facebook account for the boat (search SV Muffin) where you’ll find photos and videos. Of what she’s been up to.
The previous owner had the topsides resprayed, but I have overseen many structural repairs and modifications. These have been:
- Professionally built epoxy/carbon fiber rudder in 2023 to improve helm response under sail.
- Full epoxy coating with Hemadur under the waterline (2023) to protect against osmosis (no sign of osmotic blistering after 45 years).
- New removable hard dodger/sprayhood 2022 (this makes a huge difference to how comfortable the boat is offshore).
- Keel matrix completely rebuilt in 2021 using epoxy and a combination of glass and carbon fibers (this reenforced a known weak point in the design).
- Full electrical re-wire in 2020 including fitting AIS receiver, and Inverter, two 30 Watt solar panels and a charge controller (all still functional, but was fitted by a pair of 18 year olds so wiring could do with a tidy up).
- In 2022 the stub keel was extended (this is recorded online). The original ballast of the boat is still fixed, the keel extension simply makes the boat sail better (it does make a huge difference). This has survived 4 years in the water and is in fantastic condition, in 2022 it was fitted with a custom stainless steel shoe to protect it when the boat is ashore.

I am also very keen to see her passed on to a fellow young sailor, so if you are looking for your first yacht let me know and I’d be verry happy to discuss a workable price with you!
